Holly is a gentle and affectionate 10-year-old Collie who's ready to find her forever home. Despite her age, she’s still got a playful spark and a curious nature typical of her breed. While she does have some stiffness in her joints, she remains active and engaged, with great handler focus and a promising recall.
Holly hasn’t lived indoors before, and she's still learning leash manners—but she’s easygoing about having a leash clipped on. She’s very food motivated, takes treats nicely, and shows moderate interest in toys. She seems to warm up quickly to new people.
She’s tolerant of brushing and nail trims, not sensitive to handling overall, though she’s slightly head-shy with collars.
Due to previous matting, parts of her coat have been shaved, but she’s on the mend and will be looking even more beautiful as it grows back. She's not currently on flea or heartworm prevention but is up to date on her rabies vaccine.
As she hasn’t ever lived in a home, it is likely that Holly will need extra opportunities beyond that of an adult dog to go outside to help hone in her potty training skills. It is also possible that life inside a home may take some acclimation to since she doesn’t have any experience living indoors. Complimentary access to two hours with a certified dog behavior consultant on our board is included in her adoption.
History with kids is reported as good. She is curious toward cats and other dogs, but further history in regards to them is unknown. Slow introductions including barriers within the home are always recommended.
Holly’s sweet temperament and willingness to connect make her an easy dog to love—and a joy to welcome home.
Meet Rebel & Dixie
Our Deets...
🐈Cats: Dixie has some strong opinions about cats, so we are seeking a cat-free home.
🐕Dogs: They do enjoy the company of other dogs, but we are hoping to find a home that does not currently have other dogs.
👶Kids: They have been around children of all ages and their family reports they do well with kids, but we always recommend dogs and children be supervised at all times.
👩⚕️Health: Dixie takes a daily medication, Proin, to help with bladder control, and both girls are on regular flea/tick prevention. CCR will provide more information to interested adopters.
CCR has been asked to help find a loving home for this bonded pair of senior collies. Their family adores them but is faced with changing life circumstances. They want these girls to have stability and the best possible care for their golden years.
Dixie (tricolor) is a nine year old rough collie; Rebel (sable) just turned ten years old. They have lived together their entire lives and must be adopted together.
They are both calm girls who enjoy daily walks and naps in between. They love attention and like lots of time with their people, so a quiet home where the people are home a lot would be ideal. They enjoy car rides and trips to the park. Despite being slightly older, Rebel is the spunkier and more playful of the two. Like most collies, they may bark at exciting things like the doorbell and people walking by their home.
These girls are not in foster care with CCR; they are with their original owner and the goal is to place them directly from their current home. For that reason, applicants in the greater Portland metro area are preferred, to make it easier for everyone to get to know each other. Potential adopters must agree to a home visit in order to be considered.
